The first poem Magnolia ever wrote as a 15-year-old, "A Historian's View on Birdsong," won the Chaparral Federation of Poets' Youth Contest in the Light/Humorous Category in 2008. She continued on in life, exploring various avenues of creative expression, only to return to poetry as a young adult with a new passion and devotion. She self-published her first volume of poetry Bruised Fruit Can Still Make Juice originally in March 2020. The third edition of the book will be available in September 2026 with her updated name, a new cover, and 7 additional poems.
